On October 9, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) has organised "Best Practice for Teaching and Learning Innovation Competition (PdP)" to continue efforts in boosting the PdP innovation in UPM.
With the theme of "Teaching from the Heart: Fun Learning", this year's event has been implemented entirely online due to the current situation. ASPER has been participating in this event annually and for this year, Mathematics Unit was selected to represent the centre.
A total of eight entries participated in this competition and two external judges from Universiti Malaya and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia were invited. The evaluation criteria for innovation materials were based on creativity and contribution of innovation in improving the quality of teaching and learning, effectiveness, potential of innovation, as well as the impact on students/ programs/ faculties/ schools/ UPM.
Mathematics Unit won third place by taking home RM2000 and a certificate. Through the innovation entitled Asper Exploring Statistics (AES) Program, it is created as a platform for ASPER students to experience learning learning mathematics by using the basic knowledge of statistics. AES helps to improve the creativity of all teaching staffs in creating attractive teaching and learning environment for students. This program was led by Dr. Muhammad Asyraf Asbullah, with three other teaching staffs, namely Dr. Mohammad Hasan Abdul Sathar, Madam Wan Nur Atikah Wan Mohd Adnan, and Miss Nurul Amira Aslan.
