Pre-University Matriculation Innovation Competition PIITRAM 2024

24^th February 2024. The Centre for Foundation Studies of Universiti Putra Malaysia (ASPutra) participated in the Pre-University Matriculation Innovation Competition (PIITRAM) 2024 which was held at Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM). PIITRAM is an innovation exhibition competition where all foundation and Matriculation centres across Malaysia participated every year. This year’s host is the Tamhidi Centre of USIM. Several categories were contested in physical and online modes. ASPutra sent 14 participations in which 13 were student groups (in Science & Technology category) while 1 group consisting of lecturers and teachers in Academic category.

ASPutra representatives won 7 Gold medal awards, 4 Silver medals and 3 Bronze medals. Among the projects that win the Gold medal awards are “Nature’s Gold from Green Waste”, “Salty Deo: Protection That’s Undetected”, “Aquadrift Innovation: Revolutionising Agriculture with Floating Device”, “KITTYREPEL: Eco-Friendly Cat Repellent”, “Algae Beads in Aquaculture” and “The Application of Scented Gel-Based Insect Repellent on Ornamental Plants”. The majority of projects that won Gold medals were agricultural-based. This directly elevated the name of Universiti Putra Malaysia as a university that focuses on the advancement in agriculture.

The “Nature’s Gold from Green Waste” project which utilizes waste recycling technique to produce fertilizer that improve the quality of crops won the special category, the “Best Presentation Award”. Congratulations to all the winners and a huge thank you to all the mentors and staffs for helping the Asasi Sains Pertanian students during the event.
